| Course Description: |
|
This course is exceedingly important. Its significance is that the student picks up all the astrological refinements that are necessary in reading a chart: forming astrological sentences that lead into interpreting a chart, Moon phases, lunar nodes, retrogradation, aspects, major configurations, etc. It fills in the basics, so that all the additional astrological nuances can flow into understanding in Intermediate Delineation. |

Class Meeting 1: Theatrical Metaphors This is where the important distinctions between Planets as active agents, Signs as coloring, influencing factors and Houses as domains of life are examined and drilled. Using the venerable theatrical metaphor of actors, costumes and stage setting, the student is encouraged to use active imagination in grasping these distinctions. After having drilled the 12-letter system last semester, the similarities or commonalities of planet/sign/house, these two weeks shed light on the important disparities between them and how to distinguish their interplay in a reading. Class Meeting 2: Astrological Sentences (See Above) Class Meeting 3: Retrograde Planets In this class we focus on the Retrograde phenomenon and the perspectives that are responsible for it. Not only are the students aided in visualizing what is actually happening in the sky, they are encouraged to consider Rx planets in their study charts and to delineate them. Class Meeting 4: Lunar Phases Here the fascinating phenomenon of the Lunar Phases is unfolded. Once again the student uses his study charts to see and feel how the phases manifest in actual living. Class Meeting 5: Aspects: Applying & Separating These two weeks concentrate on aspects. Slowly and carefully the aspects are examined and taken apart in their context, both within the natural zodiac and as a subsidiary to numerology. Harmonics are touched on here as well although taken up more fully in later semesters. The astrological eye is sharpened by a requirement to rapidly see aspects as applying, separating, waxing and waning. The implications of these are discussed as well. The exciting and ongoing astrological debate regarding orbs is also addressed, and the student is encouraged to form his or her own opinion and working methodology regarding orbs. Class Meeting 6: Aspects: Waxing & Waning (See Above) Class Meeting 7: Major Configurations: T-Sq, G-Sq, Yod These two weeks find us focusing on the important Major Configurations. Through an understanding of the basic nature of the aspects from the past weeks, the student delves into the more difficult delineation of multiple aspects and the patterns they form in the horoscope. Class Meeting 8: Major Configurations: G-Trine, Kite, M-Rect, 3 Sextile Configurations (See Above) Class Meeting 9: Final Exam |
