Professional Module - Counseling Track

This carries the student into a specialized area of study. OCA offers four Tracks within the Professional Module; Counseling, Research, Business/Financial and Working with the Media. At the end of one of these tracks of study, which will include up to five semesters, the graduate will receive another diploma, indicating their level of completion. The graduate from the Professional Module may use the letters P.Dipl. O.C.A after their name, indicating their education level.

Counseling Track: The Online College of Astrology is proud to introduce its new Counseling Track. This Professional Training Counseling Track consists of five outstanding courses, each of which focuses on important skills and themes within the counseling process. At the completion of these courses, students receive an advanced Diploma from the Online College of Astrology. Courses can be taken in any order. Entrance into this course of study requires certification from an acknowledged organization, a degree from a board qualified school or a written examination administered by OCA.

Although all of these five courses focus on the synthesis of the horoscope, this Track stresses the dynamics of the counseling session itself. The theory and techniques of counseling create a synergy with astrological symbols and the student becomes versed in using these symbols as a viable and powerful counseling tool.

There is a strong emphasis in these courses on self-knowledge. Only an astrologer who is willing to honestly face his/her own inner process can accompany a client in their process. This is such an important point that we ask you to honestly clarify your own intentions. If what you are after is factual knowledge about astrology, this Track may not be for you. If you seek to sharpen your skills at empathy, synthesis and Client-Centered Counseling at an advanced level, you are in the right place.

One of the major strengths of this module is the broad perspective offered by our four experienced instructors. Important principles within counseling like Empathy, Symbolism and Communication are repeatedly addressed in all five courses within each specific framework. In this fashion the student, exposed to counseling techniques and methods within these different frameworks, develops his/her own inherent counseling approach.

A word about "Equivalency": The Online College of Astrology is proud to welcome all serious students of the ancient art and science of Astrology. However, because of the advanced level of all five courses within this Counseling Track, we are obliged to ascertain the level of students desiring to register in these courses. For equivilencies from other schools and organizations, please see the detailed information below. If you haven't yet achieved any of these levels and still wish to take one or more courses in this Track, we require an equivilency examination. At OCA we make a clear distinction between training and indoctrination. It becomes apparent before too long that in the astrological world not everyone does this. Some teachers and some schools teach their own methodology and dismiss everything else. We encourage open thinking, experimentation and disciplined creativity.
