Jackie Goldstein: Dean, Preliminary Education Department, Instructor

I met and married my husband in England and emigrated to the United States in 1956. We have three children and four grandchildren. I lived for many years in Southern California but when my husband passed away I moved to Seattle to be closer to family. With my son I own and operate a family-run business making Gold Record Awards for the entertainment industry and have been instrumental in founding a non-profit humane organization for unwanted pets.

My interest in Astrology came about in the late 1970s, when a friend offered me a challenge. When I denigrated her interest in Astrology, she sarcastically replied that she didn't know I knew so much about it! Of course I didn't. Neither did I believe that it was possible that everyone in the whole world was divided into only 12 types of personalities. (I still don't!) So, my first forays into the subject showed me that I, like millions of other people, had no real concept of Astrology and what it entails.

I spent several years reading what I could and teaching myself, until I reached the inevitable point where I knew I had to talk to other people who could teach me more.

From that initial pursuit, I joined various organizations, took a number of classes with superb astrologers such as Marion March, Judy Lofgren, Zip Dobyns and Diane Lungren, and traveled to England to attend the British Astrological Society 6-week intensive course at Jesus College in Oxford. There, I studied with a number of eminent British astrologers, focusing especially on the ethics and techniques of our craft.

Then, when Pluto conjoined my natal Jupiter, I returned to school to acquire a degree in psychology to assist with my growing astrological clientele. I became active on-line when I joined GEnie's Astrological RoundTable, originally designed and operated by OCA's Technical Director, Ed Perrone. I later became Sysop of the Astrology Forum. From there, I took the position of Manager for the Zodiac Forum on Delphi. There I ran a message board and chat room for astrologers, especially beginners. I also held some beginner's classes there as well. I now hold the position of Dean of the Department of Preliminary Education, Online College of Astrology, where I design, write and teach an elementary curriculum.
