Greatest Eastern Elongation
The farthest east along its orbit a celestial body can reach beyond the Sun. When Mercury and Venus are at their Greatest Eastern Elongation they are visible as "evening stars," and when they are at their Greatest Western Elongation they are visible as "morning stars"
