Live Videochat Now Available for OCA Students and Faculty

OCA is pleased to announce the availability of a new live online video chat classroom area for the use of faculty, staff, and registered students. A link to the video chat classrooms can be found in the "Student Area" section of the Virtual Campus Main Page.
This new technology allows individuals with webcams and microphones to engage in full-fledged, multiuser video teleconferencing. Users without cameras or microphones can watch and hear the other participants, as well as take part in the discussion through the integrated text chat.
The video chat, along with OCA's other multimedia services, is hosted completely on OCA's own Internet server. This allows OCA to maintain control of the videochat facilities and technology, and users do not have to sign up with any other service or company. The video chat is based on Adobe Flash technology, which is pre-installed on over 95% of new computers -- meaning most users do not even have to download any new software.
OCA instructors are already planning to integrate the video chat into their class sessions; and we expect to use it extensively for guest lectures as well.
Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to take advantage of this new resource for any additional purpose you like -- from informal chatting and socializing, to shared study and review, to formal classes. The video classrooms will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so please go ahead and use them!

Please note that only faculty, staff and registered students have access to the video chat at this time.
